We now have input into 3 Schools. Locally Amasaman but the schools in Doblo and Kutunse are in poor villages about 2 miles from Koby Foundation. These are very poorly built, consisting of a mere shelter sometimes squeezing 30 children into rooms with few desks that are only meant for two children but being occupied by 3 or 4. They are old and roughly made and in most cases not fit for purpose. Chalkboards are plywood sheets painted black. Very few textbooks are available. Most of the pens and pencils and writing books are provided by KF to each child. Basic education i.e. the 3R’s Reading, writing and arithmetic has to be taught, but opportunities beyond this are rare.
